FAIRWIND CASE STUDY
FairWind approached us to produce an introductory company film designed specifically for new employees joining the organisation.
As a global company operating across the wind energy sector, FairWind wanted the film to communicate who they are, what they do, and the people and environments behind their work. Most importantly, they wanted to move away from the conventional corporate format of a CEO sitting in an office and speaking directly to camera.
They came to Cinematic Blondes Collective looking for something more engaging, visually distinctive, and human a film that would introduce new employees to the company while giving them a genuine sense of the scale, environment, and culture of FairWind.
Commission & Objective
The objective was to create an introductory film that new employees would actually want to watch.
Rather than treating the project as a traditional corporate talking-head video, we proposed placing FairWind’s CEO within the environment at the heart of the company’s work: an operational wind energy location in Scotland.
This allowed the film to visually connect the leadership of the company with the environments and teams its employees encounter in their day-to-day work.
During pre-production, we worked closely with FairWind’s marketing team to understand both the information the film needed to communicate and the CEO’s preferred way of speaking on camera.
We established early on that a heavily scripted approach would not produce the most natural performance. Rather than asking him to memorise or read long sections of copy, we developed:
Clear talking points for every required topic
A flexible interview structure
Visual mood boards
Storytelling and narrative references
Location-based filming concepts
Multiple setup options for each section of the film
Production and travel planning for the Scotland shoot
The result was a format that allowed the CEO to speak naturally and confidently while still ensuring every essential message was captured.
Creative Approach
Our creative approach centred on one principle: show the world of FairWind rather than simply talking about it.
We travelled to Scotland for the two-day production, filming within the environment where FairWind’s teams operate.
Working around the necessary site safety procedures, including PPE and helmets, we captured the CEO speaking against the backdrop of the wind energy landscape alongside cinematic footage of the surrounding environment and operations.
Instead of relying on one perfect scripted take, we filmed multiple versions of each key talking point across different locations and setups.
For each topic, the CEO was given a small number of bullet points rather than a complete script, allowing him to communicate the information in his own words.
We recorded several variations wherever possible, giving both FairWind and our editorial team a much broader selection of performances, compositions and delivery styles to work with during post-production.
This approach removed the pressure of having to achieve one flawless take while creating a more authentic and conversational performance on screen.

Result & Client Usage
One of the challenges of filming on location is that not every element can be controlled particularly the Scottish weather.
Although we captured strong material during the production, the weather conditions meant that some of the planned footage could not be captured exactly as originally envisioned.
Rather than allowing this to compromise the final film, we adapted the post-production strategy.
FairWind already had a library of existing footage they wanted to incorporate into the project, so we combined these assets with the material we had filmed in Scotland, including the CEO footage and original cinematic coverage from the shoot.
This allowed us to build a much richer visual narrative while ensuring the film still felt cohesive and intentional.
It also demonstrated one of the most important elements of our production process: flexibility.
A production does not always unfold exactly as planned. Our role is not simply to execute a shot list, but to find creative solutions when circumstances change and ensure the final piece still achieves the client’s objective.
Following the shoot, we worked with our editor to assemble the different elements into one finished film.
From production through post-production, the project moved quickly, with the edited film delivered within approximately two weeks of filming.
The final result gave FairWind an introductory film that combined leadership, location, people and industry imagery into a more cinematic alternative to the traditional corporate onboarding video.
Production
Filming took place over two days in Scotland.
The shoot combined CEO-led content with cinematic environmental footage, capturing both the scale of the landscape and the industrial context surrounding FairWind’s work.
Because the filming took place within an active wind energy environment, the production required us to work within FairWind’s safety procedures and adapt our filmmaking approach accordingly.
Throughout the shoot, we prioritised capturing variety.
The CEO was filmed delivering the same core subject matter in multiple ways and across different setups, creating a broad selection of editorial options rather than relying on a single performance.
This became particularly valuable during post-production, where different versions could be selected according to pacing, tone, delivery and visual continuity.
The project was also a strong example of collaborative production.
Working closely with FairWind’s marketing team, CEO and existing media assets allowed us to create a film that remained aligned with their internal communication objectives while introducing a more cinematic visual approach.

“FairWind came to us because they wanted to approach an internal company film differently. Instead of placing their CEO behind a desk, we wanted to bring him into the environment at the centre of the company and allow him to speak naturally within that space. The project became a great example of how strong preparation, flexibility and collaboration can turn a corporate brief into something much more cinematic and engaging.”
